How do I create a pet ID tag QR code?

Open Create new → Create a QR Code, click More under the type grid and pick the Pet ID tile. Enter Pet name *, the breed, a short note and your phone number, then design the code and click Download ✓. One scan shows the pet's profile and how to reach you, with a Call owner button. Pet ID codes are dynamic only, so the tag keeps working when your number changes.

Here is how to create a Pet ID QR code. One scan shows the pet's profile and your phone, so whoever finds them can call.
Use it on a collar tag or a harness, on a carrier or a crate at the kennel or the groomer, and when you travel. Because the code is dynamic, you can update the phone number or the address later and the tag keeps working.
In the dashboard, click Create new, then Create a QR Code. Click More, pick Pet ID and leave it on Dynamic. Give the code a name, type the pet's name, breed and a short note, then your name and phone number. Choose a theme, then Download. The code is saved and ready to print.
Three fields matter. First, the pet details. Name, breed and markings, so a finder knows the animal is yours. Second, the notes. Medical alerts, or how to approach. Third, the owner contact. Your name and phone, so a finder can tap to call.

When to use a Pet ID QR code
- Collar tags and harnesses. Engrave or print it on the tag so a finder does not need a chip reader at a vet.
- Carriers and kennels. On the crate at a boarding kennel or a groomer, with the notes staff need.
- Travel and new homes. Update the phone number or the address later and the tag keeps working.
The code shows a profile page. It does not track the pet: there is no GPS, no location of the animal and no alert when the tag is scanned. What it does is put your phone number in the hands of whoever is standing next to your dog.
Steps in the dashboard
- Start the wizard. Click Create new, then Create a QR Code.
- Pick the type. On the Type step click More and choose Pet ID. The toggle stays on Dynamic.
- Choose a look. The Content step opens with a Design template picker and a Colour section for the page accent. Leave both as they are if you are in a hurry.
- Pet. Pet name * is the only required field. Add Species, Breed, Sex, Birthday, Color / markings and Microchip ID so a finder can tell they have the right animal.
- Notes / medical alerts. Keep it short enough to read on a phone — an allergy, a medication, or how to approach. For example "Timid, do not chase."
- Photo, vaccination records and documents. Optional. You can upload a photo, add vaccination rows with Given and Next due dates, and attach certificates.
- Owner / guardian. Your Name and Phone are what the finder actually uses. Email, an Address or map link (optional), an Emergency contact and an If found message round it out.
- Design and download. Click Next →, choose a theme on the QR Design step, then Download ✓ and pick a format in Save as.... Tag engravers usually want SVG.

What a stranger can see
The page is public. Anyone who scans the tag can read every field you filled in, open every document you attached, and see the owner phone and email. The form says so in the Documents section: "Anyone who scans this QR can open every document and see owner phone/email."
So prefer a city or neighbourhood over a full home address, redact anything sensitive on certificates before uploading, and use a phone number you are happy to publish. If the tag is lost, edit the code rather than reprint the tag.
Common problems
The Call owner button is hard to read
The accent colour you picked is too light. The Colour section warns "Needs more contrast so Call owner stays readable" — pick a darker shade.
The code will not scan off a small metal tag
Engraved codes on curved metal lose contrast and the quiet zone. Keep the code as large as the tag allows, leave a clear border and check minimum print size before ordering.
My number has changed
Open the code and click Edit. Because the code is dynamic the tag on the collar does not need replacing — this is the main reason to use one.
Frequently asked questions
Does it tell me where my pet is?
No. There is no GPS and no location tracking of the animal. The page shows the profile and your contact details to whoever scans the tag.
Do I get an alert when someone scans the tag?
Not as an instant alert. Scans appear in the code's analytics, and Pro and Business accounts can turn on a scheduled Scan Performance Report email.
Can I mark the pet as lost?
There is no lost-pet switch. Edit the If found message and the notes to say the pet is missing, and save — the change is live immediately.
Can one code cover two pets?
Make one code per pet. The profile page describes a single animal, and a finder needs to match the tag to the animal in front of them.
Can I change the details after the tag is engraved?
Yes. Everything except the printed pattern is editable: name, breed, notes, phone, documents, the lot.

Print at least 2 cm square for a phone held close. Further away, divide the scanning distance by 10. Always leave a clear margin around the pattern.
