How do I create a Social Media QR code?

Updated September 14, 2026 · 2 min read

Click Create new, then Create a QR Code, and choose Social Media on the Type step. Fill in Headline / Name, paste the full URL of each profile under Social Links — at least one is required — style the code and click Download ✓. Social Media is a dynamic-only type, so you can add a channel or correct a handle later and the printed code keeps working.

Here is how to create a Social Media QR code. Scanners get one page with your name and a button for each profile you add.

Use it on a business card instead of a row of handles, on a thank you card inside a parcel, or in a shop window. Because the code is dynamic, you can add a new channel later and the printed code keeps working.

In the dashboard, click Create new, then Create a QR Code. Pick Social Media from the type grid and leave it on Dynamic. Give the code a name, add a headline, then paste your Instagram and YouTube links. Choose a theme, then Download. The code is saved and ready to print.

First, the headline. Your name or your business, at the top of the page. Second, the profile links. Paste the full URL for each one. At least one is needed. Third, the website. Optional, for people who are not on those apps.

Try it on the seven-day free trial. No credit card, five dynamic QR codes. Link in the description.

When to use a social media QR code

  • Business cards and name badges. Every profile behind one code instead of a row of handles.
  • Packaging and thank-you cards. Ask for a follow at the moment the parcel is opened.
  • Studio and shop windows. People find your channels without hunting for the right handle.

Steps in the dashboard

  1. Open the wizard. In the dashboard sidebar click Create new, then Create a QR Code.
  2. Pick the type. On the Type step choose Social Media — it is in the first fifteen tiles, so you will not need More. Social Media is dynamic only, so the Static tab stays disabled.
  3. Add the headline. On the Content step fill in Headline / Name — your name or your business — and an optional Bio.
  4. Paste the profile links. Under Social Links (at least one required) there is a field per channel: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter / X, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok, plus a Website field for people who are not on those apps. Paste the full profile address into each one you use and leave the rest empty.
  5. Style it. On the QR Design step pick one of the ten Themes, or set your own dots, colours, frame and logo. Keep strong contrast between Dots Color and Background.
  6. Save and download. Click Download ✓ to create the code. For the image file, open it from My QR Codes, click Download, and pick JPEG, PNG, SVG or PDF in the Save as... dialog.

After you download

The code is now in My QR Codes, where you can rename it, tag it, file it in a folder or copy its short URL.

  • Change the content later. Click Edit on the code, change the fields, then click Update ✓. The printed pattern never changes, so nothing has to be reprinted.
  • Scans are counted. A dynamic scan passes through us, so the code records device, operating system, browser, referrer and country. Click Full analytics to read them. Cities and the scan map come with the free trial and the Business plan.
  • Add a channel later. Edit the code, paste the new profile URL, and click Update ✓. Nothing in print has to change.

Common problems

The wizard will not continue

At least one social link is required. Paste a full profile address into one of the fields, starting with https://.

A link goes to the wrong profile

Paste the address from the profile page itself rather than typing the handle by hand.

You want a designed page of buttons

Use List of Links instead: a title, a tagline, and one labelled button per link in the order you choose.

Before you print

Scan your own saved code with a phone and check the result before a print run. That holds for every type, and most of all where the code goes out to customers who cannot come back and ask you.
