How do I create a Coupon QR code?

Updated September 14, 2026 · 2 min read

Click Create new, then Create a QR Code, and choose Coupon on the Type step. Fill in Company / Brand Name, Headline, Offer Badge and Discount Code, style the code and click Download ✓. Coupon is a dynamic-only type: scanners open a coupon page with your offer, the code and a Copy Code button, plus a redeem button when you fill in both the button text and its URL.

Here is how to create a Coupon QR code. One scan opens your offer, the discount code, and a button that leads to your store.

Use it on flyers, packaging inserts, and the counter card by the till. Customers scan it, read the offer, and copy the code on the spot. Because the code is dynamic, you can change the offer later and the printed coupon keeps working.

In the dashboard, click Create new, then Create a QR Code. Pick Coupon from the type grid and leave it on Dynamic. Give the code a name, then type your brand name, the headline, the offer badge, the discount code, and the button URL. Choose a theme, then Download.

Three things matter. First, the brand and the headline. That is what the scanner reads at the top. Second, the badge and the discount code. That is the offer itself. Third, the button URL. It sends people to your store.

Try it on the seven-day free trial. No credit card, five dynamic QR codes. Link in the description.

When to use a Coupon QR code

  • Flyers and packaging inserts. The code opens the offer, not a wall of small print.
  • Shop windows and counters. Walk-in customers scan it, read the offer and copy the code on the spot.
  • Campaigns you do not want to reprint. Change the offer or the code later and the printed coupon keeps working.

Steps in the dashboard

  1. Open the wizard. In the dashboard sidebar click Create new, then Create a QR Code.
  2. Pick the type. On the Type step choose Coupon — it is in the first fifteen tiles, so you will not need More. Coupon is dynamic only, so the Static tab stays disabled.
  3. Write the offer. On the Content step fill in Company / Brand Name, a one-line Headline, and Offer Badge (e.g. 25% OFF) — the badge is the offer in a few words.
  4. Add the code and the button. Fill in Discount Code (optional) with what customers enter at checkout, then Button Text and Button URL to send them to your store. Valid From, Valid Until, Description and Terms & Conditions are optional and shown on the page when set.
  5. Style it. On the QR Design step pick one of the ten Themes, or set your own dots, colours, frame and logo. Keep strong contrast between Dots Color and Background.
  6. Save and download. Click Download ✓ to create the code. For the image file, open it from My QR Codes, click Download, and pick JPEG, PNG, SVG or PDF in the Save as... dialog.

After you download

The code is now in My QR Codes, where you can rename it, tag it, file it in a folder or copy its short URL.

  • Change the content later. Click Edit on the code, change the fields, then click Update ✓. The printed pattern never changes, so nothing has to be reprinted.
  • Scans are counted. A dynamic scan passes through us, so the code records device, operating system, browser, referrer and country. Click Full analytics to read them. Cities and the scan map come with the free trial and the Business plan.
  • Run a new offer on the same print. Edit the headline, badge, code and dates when the promotion changes.

Common problems

No redeem button appears on the coupon page

The button only shows when Button Text and Button URL are both filled in. Redeem now in the field is a placeholder, not a value.

The code will not save

Give it at least a brand name or a headline before clicking Next →.

You want the offer to stop on a date

The validity dates are printed on the page but do not switch the code off. To make the code stop working, use Date Schedule under Rules & Limits, or a Scan Limit — both are on Pro and Business.

Frequently asked questions

Can customers copy the discount code?

Yes. The coupon page has a Copy Code button.

Can I cap how many people redeem it?

You can cap scans, not redemptions. Scan Limit under Rules & Limits deactivates the code after a number of scans, on Pro and Business.

Can a Coupon code be static?

No. Coupon is dynamic only, because the coupon page is hosted.

Do the validity dates disable the code?

No. They are shown on the page. Use Date Schedule if you want the code itself to stop working.
