How do I create a Playlist QR code?

Updated September 14, 2026 · 2 min read

Click Create new, then Create a QR Code, click More on the Type step and choose Playlist. Paste the share link into Playlist URL — Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and SoundCloud are all accepted — then design and download. Keep it on Dynamic so you can point the same printed code at a new playlist later.

Here is how to create a Playlist QR code. One scan opens your playlist link on the listener's phone.

Use it on cafe table cards, on gig posters and merch, or on the tables at a wedding or a party. Because the code is dynamic, you can point it at a new playlist later and the printed code keeps working.

In the dashboard, click Create new, then Create a QR Code. Click More to show the full type grid, pick Playlist, and leave it on Dynamic. Give the code a name, then paste the playlist URL. Choose a theme, then Download. The code is saved and ready to print.

One field matters. First, the playlist URL. Copy the share link from your streaming service and paste the whole thing. Second, check that the playlist is public. Third, remember you can swap the link later without printing again.

Try it on the seven-day free trial. No credit card, five dynamic QR codes. Link in the description.

When to use a Playlist QR code

  • Cafe tables and shop counters. Customers take the music home with one scan of the table card.
  • Gig posters and merch. Put the code on the poster or the sleeve and fans open the playlist straight away.
  • Weddings and parties. A card on each table shares the playlist without anyone typing a link.

There is a longer write-up at how to create a Spotify QR code, and the playlist QR code generator runs the same wizard.

Steps in the dashboard

  1. Open the wizard. In the dashboard, click Create new, then Create a QR Code.
  2. Pick the type. On the Type step the grid shows the first 15 types, so click More to show the rest and choose Playlist. Leave it on Dynamic unless you have a reason not to: static codes need a paid plan, record no scans, and can never be edited.
  3. Fill in the content. Click Next →. The first field is QR Code Name — it is optional and only for your own list. Then, under Basic Information:
    FieldWhat to put in it
Playlist URLThe share link from your streaming service. Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and SoundCloud all work. Paste the whole address.
Edit parametersOptional, on Pro and Business. Adds UTM campaign tags to the link before it opens.
  4. Design and download. Click Next → to reach QR Design, pick a theme or set your own colours, then click Download ✓. The code is saved to My QR Codes at the same time.

After you download

A dynamic code can be pointed somewhere new at any time: open it from My QR Codes, click Edit, change the address and save. The printed pattern never changes, because it always points at the same short address on our side.

Scans are recorded too, so Full analytics shows totals, devices, browsers and where people came from. A static code encodes the address directly — nothing to edit afterwards and no scan data at all. See static versus dynamic in QRCodeStack.

Common problems

Scanners see an error instead of the playlist

The playlist is private. Make it public in your streaming app, then scan again — nothing needs changing on the code.

It opens in the browser, not the app

That is the phone's decision, not the code's. Most streaming apps offer to take over the link once they are installed.

I want to swap the playlist

Edit the code and paste a new Playlist URL. Only dynamic codes can do this; a static one is fixed forever.

Scan the preview with your own phone before you send anything to print. Testing before printing covers what else to check.

Frequently asked questions

Which streaming services work?

Any of them — the field takes a plain share link. Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and SoundCloud are the ones we call out.

Can I change the playlist after printing?

Yes, on a dynamic code. Edit it and paste the new link.

Do listeners need an account?

That depends on the service, not on the code.

Can I track scans?

Yes, on dynamic codes. Static codes record nothing.
