Here is how to create an Email QR code. One scan shows your address and a Compose Email button, with the subject already filled in.
Use it wherever someone might want to write to you. A room card in a guesthouse, a support label on a box, or a job ad. Because the code is dynamic, you can change the address later and the printed code keeps working.
In the dashboard, click Create new, then Create a QR Code. Click More, pick Email and leave it on Dynamic. Give the code a name, then type the address, a subject, and an opening line. Choose a theme for the code itself, then Download. The code is saved and ready to print.
Three fields matter. First, the email address. Use the inbox you actually check. Second, the subject. Set it once and every message is easy to filter. Third, the body. A short opening line tells the sender what to include.
Try it on the seven-day free trial. No credit card, five dynamic QR codes. Link in the description.
When to use an Email QR code
- Enquiry cards and brochures. Guests start the booking email from the room card or the leaflet.
- Support labels on products. A code on the box opens an email with the subject already set, so tickets sort themselves.
- Job ads and notice boards. Applicants reply from the poster without copying an address by hand.
Email codes can be Dynamic or Static. Dynamic shows the hosted Send Email page and can be edited and measured later. Static encodes a plain mailto: link straight into the pattern: the phone's mail app opens immediately, but the address is fixed forever and no scans are recorded.
Steps in the dashboard
- Start the wizard. Click Create new, then Create a QR Code.
- Pick the type. On the Type step click More, choose Email ("Send an email") and leave the toggle on Dynamic.
- Name it. On the Content step type a QR Code Name such as "Guesthouse bookings". Only you see this.
- Email Address. Use the inbox you actually check. Scanners see it on the page and in the Compose Email button.
- Subject. Set it once — for example "Room enquiry" — and every message that arrives is easy to filter or route to a rule.
- Body. A short opening line that tells the sender what to include, such as "Dates and guests:". They can edit it before sending.
- Design and download. Click Next →, pick a theme on the QR Design step, then Download ✓ and choose a format in Save as....
The email QR code generator page runs the same wizard if you want to build one before signing in.
After you download
Because the scan lands on our page first, you can open the code and click Edit to change the address, subject or body at any time. The printed pattern stays the same, which is what makes it safe to put on packaging or a printed brochure.
Scans are recorded on dynamic codes — time, device, operating system, browser, referrer and country — and shown under Full analytics. We do not see the email itself; the message is composed in the scanner's own mail app and sent from their account, so nothing passes through us.
Common problems
Nothing happens when I tap Compose Email
The phone has no mail account set up, or the default mail app is disabled. The address is still readable under To on the page, so the scanner can copy it.
The subject or body is missing in the mail app
Some mail clients drop the pre-filled body from a mailto: link, especially webmail opened in a browser. Keep the body to one short line and put the important instruction in the subject.
The wizard says "Please enter a valid email address"
The address is malformed — a missing @ or a trailing space. Fix the highlighted field and the Next → button unblocks.
Frequently asked questions
Does scanning send the email automatically?
No. The scan opens a page showing the address, subject and message, and the person taps Compose Email to open their own mail app. They can edit everything before sending.
Can I change the address after printing?
Yes on a dynamic code — open it, click Edit and save. A static Email code has the mailto: link baked into the pattern and cannot be changed.
Do I get analytics on an Email QR code?
Yes for dynamic codes: scan time, device, OS, browser, referrer and country. Static codes produce no analytics at all because the scan never reaches us.
Can I send to more than one address?
The field takes one address. Use a shared or group inbox if several people need to receive the enquiries.
