How do I export my data (GDPR / CCPA)?
Updated September 14, 2026 · 2 min read
Open Settings → Profile, scroll to the Privacy & Data card and click Export next to Export my data. Your browser downloads one JSON file containing your account record, every QR code you have made, your scan analytics and your subscription history. It is an instant download, not a support ticket — nobody has to approve it.
How do I download the export?
- Open your profile. Go to
Settings → Profile. - Scroll to Privacy & Data. It is near the bottom, under Connected apps.
- Click Export. The button reads Preparing… while the file is built.
- Keep the file. It saves as
qrcodestack-export-…json. Large accounts take a few seconds.
You can export as often as you like, and exporting changes nothing about your account or your codes.
What is in the file?
One JSON object with a dated header and four blocks of data.
| Block | What it holds |
|---|---|
account | Your id, email, username, name, created and updated dates, whether the account is active, and any scheduled deletion date |
qr_codes | Every code: type, name, destination URL, the stored content, whether it is dynamic, whether it is active, dates and total scan count |
scan_analytics | One row per scan — timestamp, device type, OS, browser, country, city and referrer — for the 50,000 most recent scans |
subscriptions | Plan, status, billing period dates, trial end and cancellation date |
Two things are deliberately not in it, and the file says so: subscription invoices, and raw server logs. Invoices live in the billing portal — see invoices and receipts — and logs are deleted after 30 days.
What if I only want the scan data?
Use the analytics export instead. It gives you a CSV per code that opens straight in a spreadsheet, which is a far better shape for reporting than the JSON export. See exporting scan analytics as CSV.
Use the full JSON export when you want a portable copy of everything — a data-portability request, a migration, or a record before you delete your account.
How do I make a different privacy request?
Export covers data portability and erasure covers deletion, and both are self-serve. Anything else — correcting a record, restricting or objecting to processing, opting out of a sale of personal information — goes through the privacy request form. You do not need an account to use it.
The form asks for your name, email, the type of request and your jurisdiction, and returns a reference number in the form PR-20260914-A1B2C3. Quote that number in any follow-up. We answer within 30 days. The form accepts 5 submissions per hour from one address, so submit once and wait for the reference rather than resending.
Common problems
The download has fewer scans than my analytics dashboard
The export is capped at the 50,000 most recent scan rows. Your analytics pages are not capped, so a busy account will show a higher total there. Export the CSV per code if you need the complete history.
I cannot open the file
It is plain JSON, not a spreadsheet. Any text editor will open it, and most browsers will render it readably if you drag the file into a new tab.
I need a VAT or GST invoice
Invoices are not part of the export. Email support@qrcodestack.com for a VAT invoice or a billing correction.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to request an export and wait?
No. It downloads immediately from Settings → Profile. Only the other request types on the privacy form involve a wait.
What format is the export?
A single JSON file. There is no CSV or ZIP version of the full export.
How many scan rows do I get?
Up to 50,000, newest first. Per-code CSV exports are not capped.
Are my invoices included?
No. Invoices and payment records live in the billing portal, and server logs are excluded too.
How long do you take to answer a privacy request form?
Within 30 days of the request, quoting the reference number the form gives you.
