What are GoLinks and how do I use them?

When a GoLink is the right choice

• Internal destinations your team asks for by name: go/benefits, go/onboarding, go/expenses.
• A long document URL nobody can remember but everybody needs weekly.
• Anything you would rather not leave open on the public internet — a GoLink is not a security boundary, but it does not resolve for strangers.

For anything you want a customer or the public to open, use an ordinary short link instead. GoLinks are not intended for print, posters or campaigns.

Steps: create a GoLink

1. Open Links and click Create link.
2. Paste the internal URL into Destination URL.
3. Change Link type from Public short link to GoLink (internal /go/slug).
4. Type the shortcut into Back-half. This is required for a GoLink — a random one would defeat the point. Keep it to one memorable word.
5. Click Create your link. The finished URL reads qrcodestack.com/go/your-word.
6. Share the shortcut with your team the way they will say it out loud: "go slash benefits".

Who can open a GoLink

Only signed-in members of the workspace that owns the link. Everyone else sees one of these instead of the destination:

• Signed out — a page headed Internal GoLink showing the shortcut and a Sign in to continue link. Signing in sends them straight on to the destination.
• Signed in but not a member — "You don't have access to this internal link."
• No such shortcut — "No GoLink with that name."

Membership is what grants access, so to give someone a GoLink you invite them to the workspace. Because the whole workspace can open every GoLink, do not point one at something only part of the team should see.

Limits and things to know

• Plan: Pro and Business. The free trial also includes GoLinks so you can try them; Starter does not.
• GoLinks count against the same short-link allowance as public links.
• Clicks are recorded the same way as on a public link, so a GoLink tells you which internal pages actually get used.
• Expiry dates, click limits and scheduling apply to GoLinks as well.
• There is no separate GoLinks list. They sit in the ordinary Links list alongside public links with no badge to set them apart, so the /go/ in the URL is the only signal — a title such as "GoLink: benefits" makes them easier to find later.

Common problems

"GoLinks need a memorable slug"

You left Back-half empty. GoLinks cannot use the random 7-character back-half a public link gets.

"GoLinks are available on the Pro plan and above"

The link type is selectable on every plan, but the save is refused on Starter. Nothing was created — switch back to Public short link or move up a plan.

A teammate gets "You don't have access"

They are signed in to a different account, or they have not accepted the workspace invite yet. Check the Team page.

The GoLink asks me to sign in every time

Sessions last 8 hours. After that, or on a different browser, the sign-in page appears again — it returns you to the shortcut once you are through.
